A Miele dishwasher lower door seal replacement
An internal leak caused by a badly perished lower seal
The above dishwasher failed due to water getting past the seal at the bottom of the door and entering the compartment where the pumps and other electrical components reside. This caused the anti-leak float switch to operate, bringing on the drain pump and setting the appliance into error mode.
I visited and emptied the compartment of water which temporarily cleared the fault, and I ran the dishwasher to see where water was coming from. After a few minutes, I observed a drip coming from the bottom of the door. I found that the lower seal had perished badly.
I didn't have a seal available so I had to place an order. The part arrived quickly and I returned a few days later to complete the repair.
I removed the door completely from the rest of the dishwasher, releasing it from its hinges and carefully removed the screws and supporting strip. The old seal was removed and a fresh new one fitted.
A fairly tricky job but a nice dishwasher, so well worth repairing.
