Appliance recalls
The Government collates a list of potentially dangerous appliances. Is there one in your home?
Ever since I've been involved in the domestic appliance industry there have been product recalls. Many of these are safety-critical. Some involve the risk of electrocution, fire, flooding and other harm.
The best advice is to register your purchase with the manufacturer. That way, any recall will be notified to you. Most appliances arrive with a registration card or a direction to a website to confirm your details, primarily for warranty purposes. It's always a good idea to do this.
It's worth checking online to see if any electrical appliance you own has a recall outstanding. The Government has a useful website which shows current appliance recalls https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/household-appliances-recalled-due-to-fire-risk
which relate to fire risks which is particularly pertinent after the Grenfell tower fire in London.
